LOVE from STATUS MAGAZINE ONLINE

In Good Shape

First thing that caught my attention in Xernan Orticio’s collection is The Killers’ “Somebody Told Me” scoring the runway walk. Second thing? The first piece that came out—Hervé Léger, is that you?

Some geometric prints and a couple of long dresses recurred here and there, but Xernan mostly kept to his short and tight repertoire—obviously made to cling to everything you’ve got. There’s an Egyptian feel to each piece especially when Xernan put jewels on shoulders of dresses, and paired them with accessories like snake armbands and thick cuff bracelets. But what I really like about this collection is how the slim dresses are fastened by the folds. I think they somehow make cool updates to ordinary slim, dresses that ups the stakes for those like me who are horizontally challenged. But don’t you think owning one of these would be the keenest motivation to get in shape? Positivity, girls!

Closing the show was a black gown in a tight-fitting bodice up to the knee and ending with full skirt, his collection was all-hotness in all its folded beauty. And considering it was Xernan Orticio’s first show on Philippine Fashion Week, gotta say: so far, so good.-SEREENA
